In Ep. 13, we discuss dividing the household tasks with a game called Fair Play, and giggle through sharing what it was like to play with our significant others (spoiler: Chris takes the laundry card and Joe rewrites the game).

We cannot wait to talk more about the amazing work Fair Play book author and game creator, Eve Rodsky, is doing to advocate for women creating more space in their lives on an upcoming episode.

Ep. 11: The Mom Project – Getting Moms Back into the Workforce on Their Terms

In Ep. 11, we dive into how to help moms navigate the workforce on their terms with Chandra Sanders from The Mom Project. The Mom Project is a startup committed to supporting moms in the workplace by connecting talented professionals with world-class employers who understand that no one should have to choose between family and career. Chandra tells her story as single mom who turned to The Mom Project for support after she was laid off during the pandemic. She now leads The Mom Project’s RISE program, carrying out its mission to elevate moms and women of color by providing scholarships to highly sought-after certification programs, enhancing their career and increasing their earning potential and economic opportunity without compromising authenticity. The Mom Project recently secured $80 million in funding (bringing total funding to $116 million currently) and counts Serena Williams among its strategic advisors. IMPRESSIVE!

Chit-Chat 5: Mads’ Adoption Update

Link to Mads’ Adoption website.

Chit chats are our mini-‘sodes; the unplanned chatter that doesn’t quite fit into a format yet at times adds the most value (and laughs!). A fly on our wall, so to speak.

This one is a bit unique – Mads asks Erica to press record so she can tell her what’s on her heart related to some movement in the adoption process. This is that conversation.

Our DMs @WorkingMomHour are always open, as is Mads’ Instagram @MadsCaldwell if you want to connect on the topic. For adoption support resources, you can reach out to [email protected] or call 301-439-2900.

Work Like a Woman

Suddenly, qualities traditionally associated with women, such as #empathy and #compassion, are seen as something to leverage and not suppress. Finally, “working like a woman” is an asset, according to @bostonglobe and others.

@mckinseyco and @leaninorg‘s Women in the Workplace 2021 survey found that women leaders more consistently ensured manageable workloads for teams, provided emotional support, and checked in on overall wellbeing than men, and 87% of companies called this labor critical. What do you think?

Ep. 10: Friendships + Motherhood with Clinical Psychologist & Friendship Expert, Dr. Miriam Kirmayer

In Ep. 10, we sit down with Dr. Miriam Kirmayer, a clinical psychologist and friendship expert who has spent a decade sharing the science of connection and helping others build meaningful relationships and fulfilling lives. We discuss the importance of adult friendships, especially as moms. We also cover loneliness, workplace friendships, and friendship break-ups.

Dr. Kirmayer regularly contributes to media outlets like The Atlantic, CNN, Forbes, The Guardian, The New York Times, TIME, and Vogue. According to Madeline, she is doing for friendships what Brene Brown has done for shame.
